In 2004 the Roundhouse theater closed for a £29.7m redevelopment. John McAslan and Partners were the architects responsible for the redevelopment of this Grade II* listed building.

There were five main challenges in regards to this project:

  • Rejuvenating the legendary performing space and returning it to it’s former splendor
  • Equipping the extremely adaptable space with advanced technology such as flexible seating, lighting and sound
  • Adding an additional seven layers to the roof of the building for soundproofing
  • Building a state of the art creative center, the Roundhouse Studios, for young people aged 13-25 years
  • Restoring the original features of the building

DTE was extremely honored to be chosen through the tender process to provide all the IT equipment for the Roundhouse.

The project included the specification and provision of all hardware and software for their full IT infrastructure, including the ticketing system and the audio/visual IT equipment for The Roundhouse Studios. The equipment we specified included Cisco Security products, Dell Intel servers and PC’s, APC uninterruptible power supplies, various HP printers, a new gigabit switching infrastructure and wireless access points, all the necessary Microsoft and Citrix software and license agreements.

We provided charitable discounts where available and negotiated special bid pricing direct with vendors to keep well within the budget scope. We specified and delivered the correct solution for the Roundhouse on time and kept within their budgetary constraints.
